Alphabetic Script

An alphabetic script is a writing system in which each symbol or character represents a specific sound, typically consonants and vowels. The symbols are arranged in a specific order, known as an alphabet, and can be combined to form words and sentences. The first fully alphabetic script (the Proto-Canaanite script), later known as the Phoenician alphabet, was the first alphabetic script and the ancestor of most modern alphabetic languages. A pure alphabet script is a set of basic written symbols or graphemes (letters) that represent the phonemes of the alphabetic (phonographic) languages.
