Aa = a as in “father”

Bb = b as in “bed”

Cc = s as in “cent”

Note: In Corsican, “c” before “e” or “i” is pronounced like [ch] as in “church.”

Dd = d as in “dog”

Ee = e as in “let”

Ff = f as in “fox”

Gg = ʒe as “g” in “genre”

Note: Like in French, “g” is pronounced as a soft [ʒ] sound before “e” or “i.”

Hh = ash (usually silent in Corsican)

Ii = ee as in “tree”

Jj = zh as “s” in “measure”

Ll = l as in “bell”

Mm = m as in “man”

Nn = n as in “pen”

Oo = o as in “go”

Pp = p as in “pen”

Qq = q as “kw” in “queen”

Note: “q” is always followed by “u” and pronounced like [kw].

Rr = r as in “red”

Note: Similar to the French “r,” but with a slightly rolled or guttural sound.

Ss = s as in “see”

Tt = t as in “top”

Uu = oo as in “food”

Vv = v as in “vet”

Xx = eks as “x” in “box”

Zz = z as in “zero”
