Most languages derived from primitive pictorial scripts are currently divided into phonetic language branches. Chinese is the only pictorial writing branch that has survived in the form of ideographic script from the four major ancient primitive languages. Only Chinese has maintained its status as an ideographic language from the major ancient original pictorial scripts and has continued to be used.

There are several reasons for the shift from pictorial language to phonetic language. The most important reason is that phonetic alphabetical letters are easier to learn and pronounce. This ease of use contributed to the disappearance of most pictorial writings, as they were too difficult to utilize. Consequently, Chinese seems to be one of the hardest languages to learn, especially from the perspective of most phonetic language speakers. (To be continued)
