A verb is a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence, such as take, hear, become, happen. There are two kinds of verbs, transitive verb (vt) and intransitive verb (vi). Transitive verbs by definition have an object, either a direct object or an indirect object. A transitive-direct verb acts directly on its object. Intransitive verbs never have objects. Some verbs have functions of both transitive verbs and intransitive verbs with different meanings. In most phonographic languages, verbs are inflected to encode tense, aspect, mood, and voice.
