Aa = a in “father.”

Àà = a

Bb = b

Cc = k (before “a,” “o,” or “u,”) and = ch (before “e” or “i.”)

Dd = d

Dh = dh (a soft “g” or “y” sound, similar to the “gh” in “loch” in some dialects.)

Ee = e as in “bed.”

Éé = ay

Ff = f

Fh = fh (Often silent, but can indicate lenition (softening) of the preceding consonant.)

Gg = g in “go” before “a,” “o,” or “u,” and =  y in “yes” before “e” or “i.”

Hh = h

Ii = ee as in “see.”

Ìì = ee

Ll = l

Mm = m

Nn = n

Oo = o as in “go.”

Óó = o

Pp = p

Rr = r (Rolled “r” sound, similar to the Spanish “r.”)

Ss = s

Tt = t

Uu = oo as in “food.”

Úr – Means “new.” The “ú” is pronounced like “oo.”
