What is reading?
Reading is the process of interpreting and understanding written or printed language. It involves recognizing symbols (such as letters and words) and comprehending their meanings, typically through the cognitive activities of decoding (translating text to speech) and comprehension (understanding and making sense of the text). Reading can be silent or aloud and encompasses a variety of materials, including books, articles, signs, and digital content. It is a fundamental skill for acquiring knowledge, communicating, and enjoying literature and other written forms of expression.
