What is the “International Phonetic Text” (IPT)?
The International Phonetic Text (IPT), also known as Phonetic Text, is designed to pronounce the phonemes and graphemes of the alphabet (phonographic) languages and non-alphabet (ideographic) languages.
The IPT system uses 26 Latin alphabet inventory with few symbols and diacritics to accommodate the whole range of speech sounds of human languages and be computer keyboard friendly. The major concern of IPT is to keep its spelling system as close to its original languages as possible. Thus it will be recognized by native speakers and easily be pronounced by people speaking other languages.
The International Phonetic Text (IPT) is a translinguistic spelling system which has a consistent relationship between orthography and pronunciation within the entire world language families.
